Jeff Firmin, the new owner of Revive! North Yorkshire is a family man at heart, with a wife, two sons one grandchild and another on the way, you’d think starting a new business would be the last thing on his mind at this stage of life, but Jeff plans on growing the North Yorkshire franchise bigger and better than ever.
Prior to joining Revive! Jeff was an operations manager in the leisure and retail industry, but for the past five years had been working with a special needs transport company. Jeff initially found Revive! through his position organising a fleet of over 120 vehicles. Inevitably his fleet got into scrapes on occasion and when bringing in Revive! to repair some of his fleet Jeff was amazed by the quality of the repairs provided by the technician
Upon finding out that the previous franchisee in the North Yorkshire territory, Roger Boothman, had retired Jeff enquired about purchasing the territory for himself. Following initial conversations with franchise director Cathryn Hayes, Jeff made the trip down to Revive!’s Rugby head office and chatted with Mark Llewellyn and Ricky Taylor. Jeff was impressed by the incredible levels of support provided by Revive! to franchisees and this was supported by the other franchisees Jeff had the opportunity to talk to.
Everyone working at head office were incredibly enthusiastic about the business and determined to help you succeed either through training or hands on assistance setting the business up. Jeff’s favourite aspect of the training was the retail aspects as that showed him the importance of customer service, not just the technical aspects of painting the cars, although he also found this very satisfying.
The Flexible online training options were useful for Jeff as he lives 3 hours away from head office, but going into head office gave him an extra layer of understanding the training, it also allowed him to bounce ideas off the other franchisees who were going through training at the same time.
Overall, Jeff is hoping his new business will bring flexibility and freedom to his lifestyle, while he’s aware it’ll be hard work he knows that he’ll be earning rewards for himself not somebody else. That’s what being your own boss provides, a different mindset that allows you to build the business around the lifestyle you want.
