One Man, Two Ventures, Endless Ambition

This is not the first adventure into business ownership for new Revive! Taunton & Bridgewater franchisee Adam Rap. With a professional background in finance Adam moved to the southwest six years ago to start a delivery company. Now that business is running successfully and needs little to no input from Adam on the day-to-day operations, he is looking for a new challenge so decided to explore the world of franchising.

Adam was looking for a business that complemented his existing skills and experience, with his managerial skills in finance, employees and general business ownership all proving beneficial for this new venture. Revive! immediately caught his eye, and the more research he did into the leading franchise brand the more he liked, especially the stellar reviews from customers and franchisee’s alike.

Adam had always been quite risk averse in his previous business roles, always concerned that the timing wasn’t right. However, finding Revive! at the right time prompted him to make the jump. Adam was always conscious that if he was to start out by himself, he would have no idea what he was doing, which is why he was looking for a franchise business that had the infrastructure, training and support base to help him move the business in the right direction, towards positive growth and expansion.

“Having the support and knowledge of the rest of the franchisee network has been an excellent asset to have in the start of this partnership. Having people around you who have done it before, gives you that right path to tread and ensure you are working in the right direction.”

He didn’t want to be an owner operator in the business, where he would be out in the van doing repairs himself. That would have been too bigger challenge to not only learn how to run this new business but also learning how to paint cars at the same time. But Adam has gone from having little knowledge of smart repairs and how they were performed to getting hands on and even spraying a panel himself.

This training was all in aid of giving Adam a fully rounded experience of the job allowing him to learn the basics along with establishing what was out of scope and in scope. This also gave him a real insight into what was actually possible on a mobile basis.

Despite his enthusiasm, Adam knows that running two businesses at the same time will prove to be a challenge at times. But his delivery business is at a stage where it needs little input from him on the day-to-day operations, so Adam can dedicate much of his time to growing his new Revive! Taunton & Bridgewater franchise.

The overall goal will be to get the Revive! Franchise to a point where it can run itself day to day and the techs won’t need to be told what to do. However, Adam will manage the higher-level relationships with dealerships and head office.

“I don’t think you can manage a business until you understand it fully” – Adam is looking forward to getting the techs going in their roles and growing their skills to a point that they can help with running the business at a higher level. Adam is on the lookout for talented individuals to join his business and is determined to get the right people on board so he can make customers happy by providing a great service.

In the medium-term Adam is pushing the business to grow. He is looking to get to a scalable level when he’s got support staff helping him on back-end projects as well as technicians out on the road.
